P2.2-Billion Macapagal Bridge is the Longest Bridge in Mindanao
Take an aerial view of the longest bridge in Mindanao and the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines, the P2.2-billion Macapagal Bridge.
The Macapagal Bridge is a steel cable-stayed bridge along 13.1 km Butuan Bypass Road or Mayor Democrito Plaza II Avenue in Butuan, Agusan del Norte that crosses the Agusan River. It aims to decongest traffic along the Agusan-Misamis Oriental Road in downtown Butuan. The construction cost is worth P2.2-billion.
It has a length of 908 m (2,979 ft), making it the longest bridge in Mindanao, and the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines after the Marcelo Fernan Bridge that connects Cebu City and Mactan Island.
Macapagal Bridge was officially named after Philippine President Diosdado Macapagal when it was inaugurated in 2007.
