The project of the Davao Coastal Road began its construction since 2017. According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Bago Aplaya-Talomo segment is almost 90% done. The coastal road extends from Bago Aplaya in the South to R. Castillo in the North. By the end of the year 2019, the first portion of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road is expected to be open to the public.
