The NLEX Corporation is expanding the existing 8.2 kilometers Subic Freeport Expressway or SFEX to 2 x 2 carriageway. The project includes the construction of new lanes, a new tunnel beside the existing SFEX Tipo Tunnel and two bridges beside the existing Argonaut Bridge and Jadjad Bridge. The project is undertaken to address the growing volume of vehicles going in and out of Olongapo and SBMA (Freeport).

The SFEX Capacity Expansion Project started this year and is targeted to be completed by 2020 Q3.
